Here at CheckMate Chess we’re on a mission to see chess clubs in ALL Gloucestershire primary schools.

One of our main events every month has been the Saturday Chess Club at 38 Leckhampton Road, Cheltenham. This has stopped until next September.

In the last 3 years we have coached over 250 children from a total of 16 local schools. With five of these schools we go further by:

• Running their lunchtime and after-school chess clubs
  Coaching beginners and intermediates alike using CD-Rom technology and large wall-hanging Demo boards
  
• Arranging competitions and matches
  
• Bringing chess onto their main curriculum as we have done recently with a Cheltenham school
