Here at CheckMate Chess we’re on a mission to see chess clubs in ALL Gloucestershire primary schools.

One of our main events every month is the Saturday Chess Club at The Cottage, Sandy Lane Road. This has just stopped for the summer break and is due to restart towards the end of the year. Please ring to book in due course.

In the last year we have coached over 250 children from a total of 16 local schools. With five of these schools we go further by:

• Running their lunchtime and after-school chess clubs
  Coaching beginners and intermediates alike using CD-Rom technology and large wall-hanging Demo boards
  
• Arranging competitions and matches
  
• Bringing chess onto their main curriculum as we have done recently with a Cheltenham school
